Chelsey Fjeldheim, LCSW - Trauma Therapist

Chelsey found her passion in 2013 during her undergraduate studies at an internship for men in corrections with methamphetamine addiction. The stories they shared about their childhoods and the trauma they experienced was undeniably correlated to their path to addiction and prison. Unfortunately, these stories aren’t unique. So many people have intense experiences or repetitive traumas (emotional invalidation, feeling unsafe, etc.,) in childhood that create core beliefs about themselves and the world. Children are so resilient they figure out ways to survive these challenges (aka coping mechanisms).

However, these skills that helped them survive childhood often times become dysfunctional behaviors in adulthood while their core beliefs become unconscious falsities that they live their lives by. In turn, this causes unwanted patterns in relationships with themselves and others.

Chelsey uses a combination of parts work and EMDR to guide people through their childhood experiences to decrease or eliminate involuntary reactions (triggers), shift core beliefs and coping strategies to more functional ones and form a framework to better understand themselves and the people in their lives.

Healing happens in community and so Chelsey has created The Unfolding Retreat to deepen the work she does with her clients as well as anyone looking to better understand themselves and experience healing through group work.

She also teaches upcoming, new and seasoned helping professionals who want to gain new skills both professionally and personally. She does this through internships, supervision, individual consultation and/or a 4 day immersive retreat experience giving 30 CEU’s to qualified professionals.

Chelsey’s passion is her work and it’s felt in how she shows up for her clients and colleagues. She has recently partnered with a nonprofit to bring research into her work and offer scholarships through grants and fundraising she does throughout the year.

When she’s not doing what she loves, she’s loving what she does at home with her two children and husband.

Jessica employs a holistic approach, utilizing somatic techniques like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), EFT (Emotional Freedom Tapping), and other somatic modalities to help women reconnect with their bodies and reduce resistance on their journey towards personal growth. Drawing on her extensive background, Jessica also leverages past experiences to inform and enhance current relationships and responses. For the past three years, she has specialized in supporting individuals who have experienced domestic and sexual violence.
