The Unfolding retreat is designed to meet you where you are at today, just as you are and move you toward a more integrated version of yourself. The community immersion and expert facilitation set the stage for you to show all the parts of yourself in a way that you will feel the compassion being offered to you. The retreat itself “unfolds” as the itinerary is designed to guide you through experiences and activities which deepen your connection to yourself, enabling change internally and externally once you return to your daily life after your own Unfolding experience.

I have been to hundreds of trainings. This one blew them all out of the water!
Prior to the retreat I was feeling burnt out and thought it had to do with tough clients or taking on too much, but in reality I needed to work on myself and what I was doing that was getting in the way of my best care for others.
Chelsey is the fearless visionary behind The Unfolding. Chelsey has extensive experience as a clinical therapist where she owns and operates a private practice, Courage Speaks Counseling, training other trauma therapists in Montana as well as fostering growth in her own clients. She focuses her practice on working with the inner parts of the self through ego state work paired with EMDR and humanistic counseling. In Chelsey’s presence, attendees will feel safe to explore their deepest depths and the parts of themselves that they may not be able to fully love and accept. Chelsey’s depth of trauma experience is felt in her ability to offer guidance, structure, and insight in her daily interactions with the attendees.
The structure of the retreats is brilliant in that there is a structure, but it is a very client-centered, or group-centered structure, and beautifully models what we desire for our clients to see: you have the inner wisdom. You have the intuition.
Not only have I grown in my effectiveness as a therapist, holding space for self and client even better than I did before, but in addition, I find that I embrace my work with even more passion.

The retreat helped me to trust my own intuition as a therapist and hold my session structure loosely, staying attuned to the client, their values, and their needs in the moment.
During the retreat I was able to identify wounds and begin to address them which has allowed me to be more regulated during counseling sessions with clients who inevitably have patterns that may be similar to my own.
I was pleasantly surprised that we didn’t discuss any therapy approaches I had already experienced. It was all new, deep and effective.
Reflection is key to the customization of the information attendees receive. The Unfolding retreat has built in reflection and integration time throughout the schedule where attendees will apply the knowledge they are gaining and apply it toward their own life. Reflection takes place utilizing many therapeutic interventions including guided visualizations, creative expression, meditation, journaling, groupwork, body attunement and individual coaching/counseling as needed to get the full impact of the process being offered.
The journey was so transformational, and I experienced personal and professional growth that is beyond measurable.
Attending this retreat: gave me the much needed “respite” from being the therapist, to being the client with reminders of why I became a therapist.
I feel like I had a few months of therapy after this weekend. I felt exceptionally safe, which allowed me to be open to each new experience.
Rejuvenation and down time are key to fueling up as well as unwinding after intensive work both internally and externally. You will find yourself in estates which are designed to make you feel honored, worthy, and even pampered. While each retreat facility features a different offerings and accommodations, they all are chosen to add a “wow factor” to your experience as well as offer a spa option to the down time so attendees can choose to engage in an individual detox via a hot tub immersion or a sauna session. The facilities also have spaces for community connection as well as private relaxation to accommodate introverts and extroverts alike. Curl up by a fireplace and read a book or journal, sit in the dining area and sip a cup of tea with a new friend, dig in deeper with a facilitator individually on a chaise lounge where you are able to let it all out and be supported in your time of exploration or use art supplies to capture a moment you had during a session that you want to encapsulate. Rejuvenation looks different for each person, so the opportunities are endless on ways you can fill your heart, mind, and soul during the retreat.
The retreat provided me with a support group of fellow travelers that are walking the same career and healing path that I am on. This support system has meant so much to me in terms of daily check ins, encouragement, and a knowing friend to call after a long day. The group of people I was introduced to through the retreats have provided me with a much-needed support system.
I would encourage anyone interested in seeking rejuvenation within themselves to go to this retreat and experience how truly impactful it is and how our perspective can change rapidly making us aware of how we are with others and want to be within our own practice.
The retreat has allowed me to know pieces of myself that may be tender and act as a barrier in creating a successful therapeutic relationship with my clients. Being able to identify and begin to heal those parts of myself allows me to be more present for my clients while I remain more grounded as a counselor.
During the retreat I was able to participate in several modalities of therapy including breathwork, inner child work, somatic embodiment as well as somatic group work. All of this not only gave me tools to take with me for my own care, but it also provided me with resources I have experience with to bring these tools more fully to my client sessions. Having experienced the modalities as a client has given me a deeper understanding and efficacy in using them in my practice. Having additional tools and beginning healing work within a group has allowed me to build my capacity for self-regulation. This has helped me both in sessions with clients as well as outside of sessions, so I am less affected by secondary trauma.
I have attended lots of clinical trainings, and this environment and retreat was able to facilitate in such a way to make it informative, in depth, and rich in conversation. I have walked away from this retreat not only personally transformed but also with a versatile toolkit of approaches and techniques to enhance my own practice.
Due to the experiential nature of the retreat, there are numerous activities which can pose a heightened experience (and therefore a minimal risk) to the participant. The retreat facilitators have trained and prepared to not only avoid these experiences from having an adverse impact on the attendees, but there is also a small amount of unforeseen risk in any experience which requires a waiver. Please know that the facilitators take your health, wellness, and safety seriously and will work to ensure you are safe and secure during your entire retreat experience. All activities in the retreat are optional but encouraged for all attendees to get the maximum benefit from their time and investment.
The simple answer is no, but for a complex reason. Trauma healing has a precursor of feeling your feelings to be able to access and attune to your inner world. The use of substances which may “numb” or “lessen” your experience may prevent you from doing the work you signed up to do. While we have zero judgement for the use of these substances outside of the retreat space, we ask that you not register for the retreat if you are a daily consumer of these substances. We want your investment to work for you and using while doing the work isn’t a set up for your success (which we are fully vested in).
The answer is yes. Most of which do not have an additional charge (except for the airport transfer) but require a bit of planning on our part. Please message your facilitators as soon as possible with these requests and we will begin the logistics process to accommodate you right away.
