I can remember looking into his eyes the first time we met and seeing a deep sadness. He told me his stories of loss, of a broken heart, of unloving himself.
He walked into my office tonight and his eyes were sparkling with joy. He had a smile on his face that lit up the room and I couldn’t help but laugh with the excitement that overflowed through my own body at the sight of him.
The first session I remember saying to him, “my hope for you is one day you will come in here and say ‘I am amazing and I love myself!’ That is my dream for you.”
Tonight something even better than that happened. I got to witness a happiness so big that there was nothing else to do but sit there—in his happiness—and giggle like children.
For me, this is one of those unforgettable moments. I am overflowing with emotion. I don’t have the words to describe how I feel about my clients—the way they so willingly show up with me, the way they allow me to be with them, that they trust me enough to let me walk with them for a moment in this crazy wonderful life—their courage inspires me everyday and I am so grateful for each and every one of them, past and present.
